The remaining teams in the competition have been bereft of domestic cup success for decades, and we all know that the Cityzens haven't exactly been shy of silverware with Guardiola at the helm. They've lifted this trophy seven times but only twice under the Spaniard, and the Cityzens have the extra motivation of knowing this is their only hope of tangible success amid a difficult campaign. Spirits in Guardiola's camp must b...

Former Real Madrid star reveals Barcelona snub this season

Image
Keylor Navas was approached by Barcelona earlier this season The 38-year-old shot-stopper was a free agent at the time Navas never entertained an offer to join the arch-rivals of his beloved Real Madrid  Former Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas has revealed that he turned down a shock offer to join Barcelona at the start of the current campaign. Navas joined Real Madrid in the wake of a transformative 2014 World Cup campaign for Costa Rica, playing a starring role as the Central American minnows made it to the competition's quarter-finals. Assuming the lofty mantle of Iker Casillas' replacement, Navas played a crucial role in three consecutive Champions League titles between 2016 and 2018. The elastic shot-stopper ultimately moved to Paris Saint-Germain in 2019 and was without a club last summer after his contract in the French capital was allowed to expire. Following a serious injury to Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Barcelona went out in search of a short-term solution to fill t...

Image
Christopher Nkunku continues to struggle to impress at Chelsea Frenchman tumbling down pecking order under Enzo Maresca Bayern Munich and Man Utd both keen in January Christopher Nkunku is reportedly ready to listen to offers over a departure from Chelsea this summer. Much was expected of Nkunku after his £52m signing in 2023 but, after a serious injury delayed his start, the France international has fallen well short of expectations. He has just six goals in 38 Premier League games to his name, having failed to offer any reliable competition for Blues striker Nicolas Jackson. Bayern Munich and Manchester United were both keen on Nkunku in January after it became clear he had no significant future under Enzo Maresca, and the 27-year-old's situation has not improved in the months since. He was recently left out of the matchday squad for Chelsea's comeback victory over Fulham, after which the Blues boss bluntly admitted his omission was simply a "technical decision...

Who knows which way that can go. If you ask anyone, I’m not really an emotional guy. Nothing like that ever comes across with me, but when you’ve been somewhere for so long, and it is time to say goodbye, you just never know what your personal reaction is going to be.” “Especially for me, being here so long, the fans took me in like I was one of their own,” the 38-year-old striker continued. “You always want to repay that and that’s why this Club will always have a massive place in my heart. Tottenham send Man City warning over Destiny Udogie transfer interest

Image
Man City linked with surprise move for Tottenham left-back Udogie Pep Guardiola's side ready to spend big to bolster defence Spurs reluctant to entertain interest in Italian  Tottenham Hotspur have warned Manchester City they are not interested in selling left-back Destiny Udogie this summer, according to a report. City have been looking for a new full-back ever since the January transfer window and it was recently revealed that 22-year-old Udogie had found his way on to Pep Guardiola's radar ahead of what could be an expensive summer. Officials from the Etihad Stadium recognised any deal for Udogie would be a hugely complicated one and, as relayed by Florian Plettenberg, Spurs have only contributed to those concerns by taking a defiant stance on his future. Spurs have refused to even set an asking price for Udogie, making it clear to City that they have no desire to entertain a departure for the Italy international. Udogie is recog...

The alleged gunman, 20-year-old FSU student Phoenix Ikner, began shooting at around lunchtime near the student union building in the state capital of Tallahassee. The suspect was shot by police and taken to hospital. The motive is unclear. The deceased were not students, campus police said, but their identities have not been released. The suspect is the son of a veteran Leon County police officer who is a model employee, said Sheriff Walt McNeil. Jessica Ikner, a school resource officer, kept the gun after the force upgraded its weapons. A shotgun was also found at the scene, police said. US senator meets man mistakenly deported to El Salvador

Image
A US senator has met with a man who Trump administration officials have acknowledged was deported in error from Maryland to a mega-prison in El Salvador. Maryland Senator Chris Van Hollen posted photos of his meeting with Kilmar Ábrego García, whom the administration has refused to return to the US despite an order from a federal judge After the meeting, El Salvador's President Nayib Bukele also refused to release Mr Ábrego García and said he would remain in the country's custody. The White House has accused Mr Ábrego García of being a member of the transnational Salvadoran gang MS-13, a designated foreign terrorist organisation, which his lawyer denies. It comes amid an escalating showdown between the president and the judiciary on immigration, a day after a judge in another case said the administration could be held in contempt of court over deportation flights. "I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight I had that chance," the Dem...

Image
Real Madrid have made Manchester City's Erling Haaland their primary transfer target if Vinicius Junior accepts the eyewatering offers made by Saudi Arabia, a report has claimed. City's unrelenting No.9 has long been linked with a move to Real Madrid since establishing himself as the ultimate goalscorer in world football. Even in an injury-riddled campaign for a historically poor iteration of Pep Guardiola's Manchester City, the 24-year-old has racked up 30 goals. Madrid - and anyone else with a passing interest in the sport - are well aware of Haaland's prolific reputation. The Spanish giants were one of several clubs who tried to snap up the Norway international before he joined City in 2023 and could go back into the market for Haaland this summer. Haaland may be described as Madrid's "absolute top target", but there are several steps before this blockbuster move can even begin to get underway. The report claims that Haaland is viewed solely as a replac...
